Artist Statement

   As a landscape artist I find most of my inspiration in local settings. My attention to detail and color are primary concerns when depicting my subject matter. When these challenges are met I feel a sense of pride in my accomplishments. Surrounded with an abundance of arbor and architecture I am never at a loss for subjects to paint. I am most comfortable when I am outside painting with light and atmosphere as an inspiration.

  The play between geometric shapes and the organic, the contrast of light and shadow, capturing a sense of depth and spacial quality presented in a realistic style are all reoccurring elements in my compositions. My method and approach are best suited with the use of oil on canvas, a medium that is complimentary to my style.

  My aim is that through years of training and practice I have reached a level of confidence that is evident in my work and appreciated by the viewer. I am proud to present my work and hope it is something that you might take interest in.
